Shepard of the Valley Presbyterian Church

This is the beginning of a new Presbyterian Church in McCalla, Alabama. It is not really a new church but a new beginning for the old(er) First Presbyterian Church of Bessemer, Alabama. It is my home church and the one I grew up in but times change and a new location has been chosen.

McCalla is right off the I-459 and near the McCalla exit. We are hoping that over time this will truly become the home base for the new beginning of our good Presbyterians over the western area of Jefferson and Shelby county. It will sooner or later have a new building and a new sanctury that will issue in the new and growing community of Christians looking for a new church home.

We invite all to come and visit and see God in his infinite wisdom, helping these good people as they all begin a new journey. We all hope you will visit, see Him at work and joining the journey that is now beginning.

The name of the new church is Shepard of the Valley Presbyterian Church. Try logging on to shepardofthevalley.blogspot.com and go there and see the new beginning....Jeff N.

Jeff, Thanks for the update. I too grew up in First Church. Was Baptised there, went through conformation there, and was married there 44 years ago on September 23. I pray God's blessings on this new church and pray He will allow this congregationto serve Him as long or longer than 1st Presbyterian did which was formed in 1889.
In Christ, John Brandon, Decatur, Alabama.

Blogger Jeff N,

Thanks for your comment John..I was married there in October 1962. Mine was the 1st (or I was told) was the 1st communing member married there. I met my 2nd wife Karen teaching bible study at 1st Presbyterian and again married there in Feb. 1992...I was surprised Karen was OK with that but we have now been married almost 19 years...will miss good old 1st Presbyterian...Jeff
